Loving and learning together, with Jesus

At St Peter’s Catholic Primary School, prayer and liturgy are central to everything that we do. Through meaningful and inclusive prayer opportunities, our children at St. Peter's grow in faith and learn how to respond to God’s call in their everyday lives.
Prayer is woven through every part of the school day. We begin and end each day with prayer, we pray before meals, we come together as a whole school to pray, and as well as this, children experience a wide range of prayerful opportunities between these moments. Whenever and however we gather together, we make the Sign of the Cross, reflect on our Mission Statement and pause to remember that Jesus, the Light of the World, is at the centre of everything we do.
Children are taught that prayer can be spoken, sung, meditative or silent. They are taught that this could look like a Mantra, a Visio Divina, a prayer of thanks. They are taught that no matter how they pray, God listens wherever they are. From traditional Catholic prayers to pupil-led spontaneous prayer, our pupils grow confidently in their spiritual voice.

At St. Peter's, we believe in the importance of our school environment reflecting our mission statement, vision and values, and that it should encapsulate the prayer life of the school with beauty and purpose.
Some examples of what you would find:
A dedicated prayer focus table in the school entrance sitting below a beautiful mosaic of our school mission statement.
Purposeful, consistent prayer focus tables in each classroom that reflect the liturgical time of the year.
Several outdoor prayer spaces to encourage reflection in nature, spontaneous prayer and collective worship.
Displays highlighting common prayers, including The Lord's Prayer, The Magnificat and so on.
Prayer Stations
At our school, we have five prayer stations that have been purposefully planned and designed to reflect our five unique Gospel Values – Fairness, Integrity, Kindness, Peace and Service.

Fairness
At our Fairness Prayer Station, we are welcomed to add a heart to the balancing scales to represent equality and fairness.
Integrity
At our Integrity Prayer Station, we are welcomed to pray a planting stick, either using one provided or by creating our own.
Kindness
At our Kindness Prayer Station, we are welcomed to tie a ribbon to our fishing net as we capture kindness in our prayers.
Peace
At our Peace Prayer Station, we are welcomed to sit calmly and comfortably, place a holding cross in our hands and be still.
Service
At our Service Prayer Station, we are welcomed to place a pebble in the suitcase, representing difficult journeys that we or others have made in order to serve others.
We are incredibly proud of our rich offer for prayer that celebrates the distinctive Catholic life and mission of St. Peter’s. To see this in action, visitors are warmly encouraged to view our Prayer Padlet using the link below or QR code:
