Parking at The King's Head in Southend Road is managed by Euro Car Parks.

As many of you will know, we are located directly opposite the school and our car park is managed by Euro Car Parks.

The parking system has been in place for approximately six years. It was introduced because our car park was regularly being filled by school traffic, preventing patrons from accessing the business and creating the impression that we were full when we were not.

We understand that parking around the school can be challenging, and this year we have introduced a new arrangement designed to benefit parents, the school, our business, and the wider community while also helping to improve safety around the school gates.

 

Weekly School Parking Scheme

Every Monday morning from 8:30am–9:00am, parents and carers can visit the pub and pay £12 to register their vehicle for the entire school week.

This includes:

• Parking validation for the week
• Complimentary tea and coffee
• A sweet treat

If Monday is a Bank Holiday, INSET day, or another day when pupils are not attending school, we will operate the scheme on the Tuesday instead.

For those who would prefer to pay for multiple weeks in advance, we are happy to accommodate this. Please speak to a member of the team.

Daily Parking Validation

If you choose not to use the weekly scheme but wish to use our car park, you must make a purchase in the pub on each day you wish to validate your parking.

Parking validation is completed using one of the tablets located at the bar.

Many parents already use the pub regularly and correctly validate their parking. We are very grateful for their continued support.

 

The 10-Minute Grace Period

The car park operates with a 10-minute grace period.

• If you enter and leave within 10 minutes, no action is taken.
• If you remain even one second beyond 10 minutes without valid parking, Euro Car Parks will issue a Parking Charge Notice.

We are receiving an increasing number of requests where drivers have exceeded the grace period and subsequently received a charge.

While we do have the ability to request cancellations in some circumstances, we are charged by Euro Car Parks every time we do so. For that reason, we will not cancel charges where no valid transaction has been made with the business. The system is operating exactly as intended when a charge is issued after the grace period has been exceeded.

 

Please Do Not Attempt to Circumvent the System

We are aware of instances where:

• Drivers enter their registration details before the school run, stating that they intend to return later, but do not.
• Children are sent into the pub to enter vehicle registration details on behalf of parents.

Please be aware that we actively monitor parking validations and reserve the right to remove any validation that has not been supported by a genuine transaction.

Parking is only authorised when it is linked to a valid purchase through the business.

 

If You Intend to Visit the Pub After School Drop-Off or Pick-Up

If you are genuinely planning to visit the pub after completing the school run, there is no need to rush in beforehand.

Simply:

1. Park your vehicle.
2. Complete your school drop-off or pick-up.
3. Return to the pub and make your purchase.
4. Enter your vehicle registration into the validation tablet.

The validation system covers the entire day, so your parking will still be correctly authorised.

 

Working Together

We are committed to working positively with the school and local families. We recognise that school parking can be difficult, and we have introduced the weekly parking scheme specifically to provide a simple, affordable solution.

At the same time, we are a business and must ensure that our parking facilities remain available for genuine customers.

We kindly ask all parents, carers and visitors to respect these arrangements so that the system can continue to work fairly for everyone.
