St Peter's Catholic Primary School

Loving and Learning together, with Jesus.

Homework activities

Each week your child will receive two reading-scheme books to bring home and a book of their choice from the class library [the children can change their library book whenever they wish]. As well as reading with your child please take the time to read to them - the library books and favourite books from home are great for this.

They will also be given flashcards [see below] consisting of sounds and words for them to practise regularly at home. These will be checked in school once a week and new cards added when your child is ready.

In their 'book bags' you will find a name-writing card which can be used with a 'drywipe' pen to practise forming the letters of their name correctly [a guide to letter formation can been found below.]

Homework will be sent home each week on a Friday and due back into school on the following Wednesday. Please see below the homework for this week:

Flashcard guide

Green cards - single sounds
Yellow cards - decodable words [these can be 'sounded out' using known sounds]
Red cards - tricky words [these need to be learnt by sight]
Please take a look at the  'Links ' section to support their learning. We will continue to add more sites and links throughout the year.

There is also a link to "WOW Moments!" - anytime your child does something that makes you say "Wow" (whether it is related to school or not) simply print out a WOW moment and write a short description of what your child did, which you can stick in your child's Homework book so that it can be shared in school. Equally any work that they do at home and bring into school can also be stuck into their Homework books.
