At the start of our school year, we held a 'Be Kind' Week. During the week, we delivered lessons on anti-bullying and friendship as well as asking the children for their ideas on aspects of school life. We also had a visit from Peace Button.
Be Kind Charter and Playtime Pledges
Our ‘Be Kind Week’ has been a real success with the children forming our Be Kind Charter and the school rules. Our St Peter’s Be Kind Charter will be displayed in the school hall along with our children and staff pledges. Do view it when you are next in the school!
Make a Noise
We are delighted that our application to the Department for Education has been successful and during Be Kind Week, we were able to introduce the ‘Make a Noise’ programme to the children. The initiative is focused on encouraging our children to have a voice and speak out (tootoot) regarding any worries or concerns they may have or any form of bullying. Further details to follow.
We were very excited to introduce ‘Peace Button’ to the children In Be Kind Week. Children and staff took part in a whole school assembly and year group workshops. Peace Button seeks to inspire peace by introducing the children to Mindfulness methods. The children experienced Mindfulness through breath, movement, storytelling and song. Peace Button is committed to the growth, education and the protection of the world’s children. A perfect strategy linked to our ‘Be Kind’ week. We are looking to organise holding a workshop for parents. Details to follow.
As part of Be Kind Week, we have also looked at our reward systems. We have asked our children, as part of a student voice activity following assembly, to think of new ways we can reward our positive learners. The children have thought about many new ideas and we will now collate these and introduce some of them after half term.
